Vernon Cubs visit Canalside

In a joint activity evening on Monday 16th April, Vernon Cubs visited the studios of Canalside Community Radio/CY4Y Youth Radio and the Bollington Discovery Centre. Pictured here with Phil and Damian from CY4Y Radio, the cubs learned how DJs carry out the complex job of loading songs and jingles. Some cubs then recorded a short jingle of their own and watched a brief demonstration by Dan Shaw - a cub and trainee DJ at CY4Y Radio.

Eggstra! Eggstra!Eggsiting, eggsilerating, eggshausting all best descibe the scramble to collect 108 eggs from the 108 Steps on Easter Sunday. What a cracking event it was as a crowd gathered at the top of the 108 Steps behind St Michael's Church in Macclesfield to egg on Rick Moss as he descended and climbed the steps collecting hard boiled eggs and placing them all in one basket at the top. Not a single egg broken! This year's event was the second organised by Macclesfield Rotary Club's Fred Ford, an eggspert in organising slightly off-beat themed events in and around Macclesfield. At the same time as Rick was collecting ingedients for his egg and cress sandwiches, Peter Morrison made a mad-dash to Walker Barn and back. He made eggselent time completing the run in just under an hour. The race was started by The Rev. David Wightman. Many thanks go to Tesco for their support of this event. Commentary was provided by Canalside Radio who also managed a couple of eggsclusive interviews with both competitors and Fred Ford, which can be seen below. Put the date in your diary for Easter Sunday next year, as it's planned to be bigger and better!
